ASTAR Training Institute is a Registered Training Organisation registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority. ASTAR Training Institute is proud to offer the Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care as a 1 - 2 year course with flexible delivery options.
The program provides learners with skills and knowledge relating to designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. This includes general supervision of staff including volunteers, specific focus on implementing an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. If you are looking to be a professional in the childcare and services industry this is the course for you.
Learners will be empowered by this course and be equipped to work within the childcare industry. This qualification reflects the roles of experienced childcare workers, those already from the industry looking to up-skill and progress within the industry. Learners will gain a nationally recognised qualification in the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC50113).
It is acknowledged that many students will have vocational experience in a relevant role that will have provided suitable preparation for the program.
Students are required to have a sound proficiency in English. Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
ASTAR Training Institute will conduct a LLN (Language, Literacy & Numeracy) assessment to determine your foundation skills and the level of support we are required to provide you with.
A portion of assessments can be completed in the classroom (except distance mode). Assessments include a combination of the following; in the workplace (workplace observation), one-on-one and group theory instruction and workplace practice and assessment.
- ASTAR Training Institute trainers will travel to the workplace to conduct workplace observations
- Group sessions are trainer led.
- Participants can typically attend formal training sessions up to twice per week.
- In order to assisst students to complete assessments they can be provided with professionally presented reference materials to assist them to develop their knowledge of the subject (materials can be purchased outright at an additional cost, or borrowed with a deposit held and refunded upon return)
To successfully complete this qualification, you are required to complete 23 core units 5 elective units and 240 hours of work experience.
Students must also complete HLTAID004 Provide an emergancy first aid response in an Education and Care Setting which is offered internally as part of the course.
All students completing workplacement as part of the course will need to have a Working with Children Check and Police Clearance (the provider will require a copy of these)
The units are sequenced in a way that allows a logical progression.
On successful completion of the course, students will receive Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. Graduates from this course will be able to perform the duties of an Early Childhood Educator.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for each Unit of Competency which is based on relevant workplace experience and evidences, previous nationally recognised training, or other experiences.
